Mentoring is using your experience of life and work to support and encourage another to grow, develop and achieve their potential.

Our Lucky Break mentoring programmes support young people and adults across the Thames Valley including young people who are underachieving, school students at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) and lone parents.

We match mentees with carefully selected and trained volunteer mentors from the local community. Our mentors work holistically, offering individually-tailored packages of support to help people to:

  • Overcome barriers to achievement
  • Build confidence and resilience
  • Increase motivation
  • Develop vital employability and life skills
  • Raise their aspirations to be the best they can be

“Outside of parents, teachers and employers, the mentor has the privilege of entering a young person’s world and helping them make sense of difficulties and empowering them”.
Pam Clark, Lucky Break mentor

“It has been a tough couple of years.  My mentor kept me focussed on my studies and helped me do my bit for the family.  My parents are so proud of me.”
Lucky Break mentee
